SuperMagnetMan is the e-commerce brand of SM Magnetics, here to make it easy to get the magnets you need for prototyping, testing, or small-scale use. When you're ready for a custom solution—whether that’s a fully engineered magnetic system, simulation support, or a complete assembly—our team at SM Magnetics is ready to help you bring it to life.

About the Product

Neodymium cylinder magnets — also called rod magnets — deliver high energy density in a compact round form, making them ideal for sensor targets, medical devices, and mechanism prototypes. The circular cross-section simplifies drilling or press-fit mounting and supports axial or diametrical magnetization, depending on your flux path. Controlled diameter and length tolerances enable reliable stack-ups. Use the calculator to gauge holding force across your air gap and mating steel and select the appropriate grade and coating from the material specs to meet field strength, thermal margin, and sterilization requirements.

Great magnets for my purpose.

Great little magnet

Strong magnetic force. Does the job but I wish I bought larger and somewhat weaker ones as these are a bit difficult to hold. I purchased these primarily to identify the location of nails in drywall “pops” but also to use as note “pegs” for the side of the frig. This size/type magnet worked for both applications but it smallish size made it hard to hold for the first application and its size and strength requires strong fingers to pull it free from the frig. I’ve since found the magnet that I previously used for the drywall application. It has a 1/2” diameter and is 1-11/16” long, so is considerably bigger. The purchased magnets field is considerably stronger than that of the older one; its considerably more difficult to remove the smaller magnets from the frig than the larger one.
