Frequently Asked Questions

A Halbach array is a special arrangement of permanent magnets where the poles are oriented in a sequence that reinforces the magnetic field on one side while canceling it on the other. This creates a much stronger, directed field on the “active” side with minimal flux leakage on the opposite side, making Halbach arrays ideal for motors, magnetic bearings, and advanced sensing applications.

They are used in motors, generators, sensing applications, magnetic levitation, and particle accelerators to maximize efficiency.

Neodymium magnets (NdFeB) are most commonly used in Halbach arrays because they provide the highest magnetic strength in compact sizes, maximizing the field reinforcement effect. Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) can also be used when higher temperature stability or corrosion resistance is required, though with slightly lower strength.
