Custom Solutions

SuperMagnetMan is the e-commerce brand of SM Magnetics, here to make it easy to get the magnets you need for prototyping, testing, or small-scale use. When you're ready for a custom solution—whether that’s a fully engineered magnetic system, simulation support, or a complete assembly—our team at SM Magnetics is ready to help you bring it to life.

About the Product

Neodymium ring magnets deliver very high flux in a compact footprint—ideal for prototype assemblies. Common uses include encoders, shaft sensing, and rotor and stator test builds, with additional applications in magnetic couplings and concentric fixtures. The inner and outer-diameter geometry simplifies precise, concentric mounting and hardware pass-through, while axial magnetization creates a clean annular field that works well with Hall and reed sensors. Select grade and magnetization to meet field strength and temperature margin requirements (standard grades operate around 80–100 °C, with high-temperature variants available). Choose coatings to match the environment, then confirm holding force with the pull-force calculator and review material data and tolerances before moving to production.

Magnet broke

Hi, one of the magnets broke when we were trying to pry them apart.

Hi Michelle,

I am so sorry to hear you had some magnets break on you. The product part number, R111045H, is made of neodymium which will break upon impact if the magnets are not handled properly as they enter the magnetic field of another magnet or its own field gets close enough to another magnet or metal surface. This ring specifically is also quite large so its field is bigger and, depending on the application, can have approximately a 35lb pull force which is quite strong if this catches someone by surprise. The proper precautions should be taken when handling these. If you have further concerns or questions about the damage you’ve experienced, please send them to our Operations Department at orders@supermagnetman.com and we will be happy to discuss this further.

Thanks,
SM Magnetics Team

Amazingly strong magnets

I got two sets of 6. Unfortunately I got them too close to each other and they bit me! Took a small chunk out of my finger and then it took two people with pliers to pry them apart when they were stuck together without the gasket in between. Ouch. In the care and feeding of your magnets, keep them away from each other!
