Custom Solutions

SuperMagnetMan is the e-commerce brand of SM Magnetics, here to make it easy to get the magnets you need for prototyping, testing, or small-scale use. When you're ready for a custom solution—whether that’s a fully engineered magnetic system, simulation support, or a complete assembly—our team at SM Magnetics is ready to help you bring it to life.

About the Product

Neodymium cylinder magnets — also called rod magnets — deliver high energy density in a compact round form, making them ideal for sensor targets, medical devices, and mechanism prototypes. The circular cross-section simplifies drilling or press-fit mounting and supports axial or diametrical magnetization, depending on your flux path. Controlled diameter and length tolerances enable reliable stack-ups. Use the calculator to gauge holding force across your air gap and mating steel and select the appropriate grade and coating from the material specs to meet field strength, thermal margin, and sterilization requirements.

Two small magnets broke in pieces when I was unpacking

Two small magnets broke in pieces when I was unpacking, I did not expect they could be so fragile, I thought they made of solid metal

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your business and for the review. We appreciate it.

I am so sorry to hear you had some magnets break on you. The product part number, Cyl0751, is made of Neodymium which will break upon impact if the magnets are not handled properly as they enter the magnetic field of another magnet or its own field gets close enough to another magnet or metal surface. This cylinder specifically is also quite large so its field is bigger and, depending on the application, can have approximately a 35lb pull force which is quite strong if this catches someone by surprise. The proper precautions should be taken when handling these. If you have further concerns or questions about the damage you’ve experienced, please send them to our Operations Department at orders@supermagnetman.com and we will be happy to discuss this further.

Thanks,

Very Useful

One day trying to devise a way to keep a steel door open I stumbled upon these and they work wonderfully. Second time I ordered these, one was stolen. Two of these hold the door firmly in winds up to 30 mph. There are so many uses for these it would take me way to much time to list them. Try a couple, they're awesome. Just be careful.
