Square Magnets are typically used as motor magnets, generator magnets, pump motors, holding magnets, and sensor magnets. The surface area of a square magnet gives a strong hold when paired with steel or another magnet, and the contour of the magnetic field makes them an option for most motors, generators and pumps.
Neodymium square magnets can be manufactured with the direction of magnetization through the thickness or width. Most square magnets are magnetized through the thickness when used in motors, generator and pumps, however, some applications are better suited for the direction of magnetization to be through the width.
When a square magnet is used in motors, pumps and generators, the grade and coating of the magnet should be considered carefully. Knowing the temperature requirements, the operating environment, and the field strength needed from the square magnet will be important prior to magnet production.
